Benzyl Alcohol

Benzyl Alcohol is a colorless liquid with a mild, pleasant aromatic odor. It is highly valued as a solvent due to its polarity, low toxicity, and low vapor pressure. This compound is partially soluble in water (4 g/100 mL) and completely miscible in alcohols. Benzyl Alcohol, NF, plays a crucial role in the manufacturing of other benzyl compounds and serves as a pharmaceutical aid and preservative in numerous injectable drugs. Widely used in perfumery and flavoring, it is an organic aromatic alcohol naturally found in various fruits, teas, and essential oils such as Jasmine, Hyacinth, and Ylang-Ylang.

In addition to being a preservative, Benzyl Alcohol functions as a solvent, anesthetic, flavoring agent, and an active ingredient in head lice treatments. Its versatile applications extend to personal care products, including baby products, eye products, shaving products, cosmetics, skincare, hair care, nail care, and bath products, as well as soaps and detergents. With the formula C6H5CH2OH, Benzyl Alcohol is manufactured in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and complies with Cosmetics Directive 76/768/EC and its amendments. It holds GRAS, Halal, and Kosher certifications and is not tested on animals.
