Liquid Sodium Silicate (Water Glass) Solution (30–40%)
Liquid Sodium Silicate, also known as Water Glass, is a multi-purpose product with a variety of applications. It has a weight ratio of 3.22 and a 40 Baume density. It is commonly used as a foundry-grade, ceramic-grade, and carton adhesive-grade product. It can also be used as a deflocculant to prevent shrinkage of greenware, for surface application to create an instant antique look, to solidify and create an instant solid sand mold for metal castings, as a sealer for plaster and concrete surfaces, and as a treatment for wood to make it water-resistant and insect-free. When applied as a thin layer between surfaces to be bonded, it can also be used as an extraordinarily high-temperature adhesive and bonding agent. Note that liquid sodium silicate has a high alkaline level of 11.3 pH.
